Instalación paso a paso para configurar el módem HUAWEI E220 UMTS/HDSPA a 3,6 USB de vodafone en Windows Vista. Textos en español e inglés. Step by Step: 1) Connect the E220 to your XP PC/Laptop 2) access the emulated CD Drive and copy all the Contents onto a USB Pen Drive. 3) Disconnect the E220 and the Pen Drive 4) Connect the Pen Drive to your Vista PC and install the software using the Autorun.exe file (Run as Administrator) 5) Connect the E220 – Vista will only recognize a USB Mass Storage Device and the emulated CD drive which it cannot access. 6) Open the Device Manager (in the Control Panel) 7) Look for the USB Mass Storage Device in the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” Section If there are more than one USB Mass Storage Devices, right click each one, select Properties, Details and then “Children” If it says “Huawei” somewhere inside the Value, you found the right one. 
Right click on the Mass Storage Device and select “Update Driver Software” 9) Select “Browse my Computer” 10) Select “Let me pick” 11) Uncheck “Show compatible devices” 12) Select “(standard USB Host Controller)” in the Manufacturer Tab 13) Select “USB Composite Device” in the Model Tab 14) Finish installing the Composite Device driver 15) Afterwards, Vista will add another USB Mass Storage Device, and if you are lucky, also 2 “Data Interfaces” 16) If it doesn’t …

i have the modem with self installation files in the modem itself….no cd and i dont know how to copy (or access) the files to my computer or pendrive, Pls help

thx a lot. Tried nearly the same under win 7 (32 Bit) with E160 from Fonic (Germany) and installed the new drivers. Seems to work fine so far.

how do you unlock to use mtn
the led indicates which conection you have. green = GSM/EDGE blue = UMTS/HDSPA

Yes iam talking about the HUAWEI E220 UMTS/HDSPA modem. i but the data sim card in i can see the gsm operators but it said i can only connect with Vodafone and mine is MTN. Is it any firmware or drivers to pass this problem?
This is for HUAWEI E220 UMTS/HDSPA modem. You refer to a card modem or a phone (SIM) card?.
In Huawei E220 When the program is able to detect your modem and the PIN is Ok, the green led turns into blue led.

i try to install card that is not vodafone but there is no way to connect , isit any way we can do it ?if i do with this way it will work ok? I have windows Vista.
Well, restart only the installation time. Then the drivers will work until microsoft broke something again.
I used it for months without any problem.
Only installation is a bit heavy.
Later, you can shutdown, restart or whatever, don’t have to reinstall anything again.

yeah it sucks. Cuz I dont wanna restart my whole comp, just to get my PSP compadable again. and besides, what if it dosent work? 0_o
Only to restart Windows must be enough.
It is very sad but many companies are still selling Huawei modems and laptops with 3G integrated without providing Vista drivers.
when u say restart, do u mean like the WHOLE comp and delete everything? I just dont get it lol.
